The 2026 UK Wedding Blacklist: The 10 Songs Couples Don’t Want on the Dancefloor
Modern British couples are officially rewriting the rules of wedding...
As weddings become increasingly visual experiences, from professional photography and videography to social content and guest photos, modern couples are placing more focus than ever on preserving the moments they will look back on for years to come.
To help couples and guests navigate this evolving landscape, leading bridal brand Grace Loves Lace has partnered with wedding photographer and planner Patrizia Corbianco, founder of Blancorazon Wedding, who has spent years capturing modern weddings and helping couples create meaningful, visually considered celebrations.
“The modern wedding experience extends far beyond the gown itself. We’re seeing couples become more intentional about every element of their day, from what they wear to how those moments are captured and remembered,” says Megan Ziems, founder of Grace Loves Lace.
Patrizia shares the guest habit that can unintentionally impact professional wedding imagery, why more couples are choosing unplugged ceremonies, and how guests can capture memories respectfully without disrupting the moments that matter most.
The Innocent Guest Habit That Can Ruin A Once-In-A-Lifetime Wedding Photo
Couples spend months planning the details of their wedding day, from the venue and styling to the photography team capturing the moments they’ll keep forever. But according to Patrizia, one overlooked factor can impact those once-in-a-lifetime images: guests unintentionally becoming part of the shot.
“Guests positioning themselves behind or around a professional photo session can have a bigger impact than they realise. During a couple portrait session, someone may stop nearby to take their own photo, not realising they’re appearing in the background or changing the atmosphere of the moment being captured.”
Photographers often move couples and bridal parties away from the celebration to capture more intimate portraits. Guests lingering nearby or stepping into the background can unintentionally appear in the final image, distract from the composition, or take focus away from the couple.
But the impact goes beyond unwanted people in the frame. The presence of phones, extra cameras or guests watching closely can sometimes change the way couples naturally react, making moments feel less candid and emotionally authentic.
“The most beautiful photographs happen when couples forget the camera is there and are able to simply be present with each other,” says Patrizia. “Giving photographers the space to work helps preserve the genuine emotions that make wedding images so meaningful.”
3 Ways Couples Can Protect Their Wedding Photos Before The Big Day
1. Give Your Photographer Room To Capture The Moment
One of the simplest ways couples can protect their wedding photos is by creating clear separation between the photography team and guests during key photo moments.
“When we’re capturing portraits, we’re often creating a very intentional moment between the couple. Having guests nearby taking photos, stepping into the background or watching closely can change the atmosphere and affect those genuine reactions we’re trying to preserve.”
Creating space for the photographer to direct the moment without interruptions helps ensure images feel intentional, intimate and uninterrupted.
2. One Sentence Couples Can Add To Their Invitation To Protect Their Photos
For couples who want an unplugged ceremony or simply prefer guests to be present during key moments, Patrizia says the most important thing is setting expectations early.
“The key is communication. The request should always be presented as the couple’s personal wish rather than a rule imposed by vendors or photographers.”
A simple note on a wedding website, invitation or ceremony card can help:
“We’ve hired an incredible photography team to capture these once-in-a-lifetime moments. We kindly ask guests to put phones and cameras away during the ceremony and be fully present with us.”
3. Trust The Professionals Capturing Your Day
With so many guests wanting to capture their own memories, Patrizia says couples should feel confident relying on the photography team they’ve chosen, and giving them the space to do what they do best.
“The couple has already chosen their photographer because they trust their ability to tell their story. The best photographs happen when everyone allows that process to unfold naturally, when couples are present, guests are engaged, and the photographer can capture the moments as they truly happen.”
