House of Janneke, a new lifestyle brand, launches Book of Special Days

House of Janneke new lifestyle Book

House of Janneke is the result of a love of beautiful design, colour and pattern. After a career in logistics, operations, spreadsheets, and a world away from anything decorative, Janneke Simpson founded House of Janneke to assuage a longing for colour and pattern.

The catalyst was a book. One her grandmother kept, that her mother continued, and that she one day went looking for and couldn't find anywhere. Book of Special Days The Book of Special Days is a keepsake journal that gives special moments a home. This isn't a diary. There are no rules, no schedules, no need to write in it every day.

There is a page for every day of the year, but no printed years. After a special day, you find the date, add the year and write down what made it worth remembering. Over time, this book will become something more: a living archive of your days, a weave of stories across the years, a place for little joys, victories big and small, laughter shared and milestones you cherish. It holds what you don't want to forget, a trove of the ordinary and the extraordinary, all treasured alike.

The Story The Book of Special Days is born out of a family tradition. Janneke's Granny started it, her Mum continued it and Janneke loved it so much she wanted to share it with everyone around her. When she went looking to buy it for friends, she found it had all but disappeared. So she decided to make it herself. The cover design carries its own piece of family history. The pattern comes from a painting inherited from Janneke's great-great-uncle, Ronald Simpson, a pattern designer from the early 20th century based in Carlisle, whose work is today part of the V&A collection. Two threads of the same family, woven into one object.

The Founder Janneke Simpson has spent her career in logistics and operations — a world of processes and spreadsheets. But running alongside it, always, has been a love of beautiful things, of colour, pattern, and objects made with care and made to last. The pull towards something more creative and purposeful becoming harder to ignore, House of Janneke is where it finally led.

"When I couldn't find a Book of Special Days anywhere, I saw it as my opportunity to bring together two things dear to me: family tradition, and patterns and colours. House of Janneke was founded on the simple belief that there is still a place for beautiful, meaningful objects that last and The Book of Special Days is just the beginning."- Janneke Simpson, Founder, House of Janneke

The Book of Special Days is available now at www.houseofjanneke.com, RRP £49
